3 Spanish Guitar Waltzes in One Beautiful Short Piece
Aug 15, 2022There are so many fun and beautiful songs to play in the nylon string guitar universe: classical, Spanish classical, flamenco, bossa nova, tango, choro, etc. etc. the list of different styles goes on and on.
But the more songs you learn you start to notice similarities between them and you might even notice that many of them are derived from the exact same chord progression. That's the case for three of my favorite Spanish waltzes: Spanish Waltz, Mi Favorita, and Adelita.
Spanish Waltz is an easy piece I teach to all my beginner guitar students. Mi Favorita is a more difficult but very fun waltz that basically IS the same as Spanish Waltz but with more harmonic embellishments. Adelita is one of the famous "miniatures" by the great Francisco Tárrega (Lágrima is another famous miniature of his often played alongside Adelita).
I combined these three waltzes into one continuous piece, taking only the A sections of Mi Favorita and Adelita because they stay in the key of E minor and also because they're the most memorable parts of those songs!
